THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE FARM

Steve & Heather Scar

Golden Husband and wife team and owners of Veteran-owned, family-run Meadowlark Farm in Iowa

Veteran-owned, family-run, and deeply rooted in Iowa’s farming community. Steve served 20 years in Air Force Search and Rescue before returning to the land his wife’s grandfather dreamed of passing down.

We raised Kunekune pigs, tend the pastures, and care for this land like we’re preparing it for the next generation — because we are.

HERITAGE BREED. EXCEPTIONAL FLAVOR.

Kunekune Pork at its finest.

Richly flavored, beautifully marbled, nutrient-dense pork chops raised on pastures at Meadowlark Farm in Iowa

Since 2018 we’ve been developing premium Kunekune genetics with a focus on rate of gain and ultrasound selection to product richly flavored, beautifully marbled, nutrient-dense pork. Our hands-on, pasture-based approach means daily care and attention because healthy, well-cared-for pigs create high quality pork you can taste.

Note: We do not ship pork. Available at the Des Moines Farmers’ Market, drop-off orders within 60 miles of Adair, and sourced to select local chefs.

Meadowlark Farm honors the nose-to-tail philosophy by incorporating nutrient-dense pork tallow into skincare at Meadowlark Made Apothecary

THE NOSE-TO-TAIL PHILOSOPHY

Nothing wasted. Everything honored.

We believe in using the whole animal. Our pasture-raised tallow—rendered from our own pigs—is the foundation of our Meadowlark Made skincare products. Farm and apothecary, one purpose.

At Meadowlark Farm our goal is to live a life that honors God, fulfills the dreams of those who came before us, and prepare the way for future generations.
