Rooted in Tradition. Backed by Science.
At Meadowlark Made, we believe skincare should be something you understand: no fillers, no mystery ingredients, no greenwashing. Every balm, butter, and salve begins right here on our small Iowa farm, where old-world methods meet intentional formulation.
From the pasture to the jar, we follow slow, ancestral processes that honor the land, our animals, and the generations of women before us. What they practiced instinctively, modern science now confirms — whole ingredients truly work.
Pasture-Raised Pork Tallow
The foundation of every Meadowlark Made product.
Our heritage Kunekune pigs are pasture-raised on our family farm and cared for with respect and gratitude. We slow-render their nutrient-rich fat in small batches, using a traditional wet render to preserve every bit of goodness.
Why it matters for your skin:
Pork tallow’s fatty acid structure mirrors that of our own skin, allowing it to absorb easily and deeply nourish. Rich in vitamins A, D, E & K — incredibly high in sunshine-derived vitamin D — it helps soothe dryness, restore elasticity, and protect the skin barrier naturally. Learn about the benefits this ancestral fat offers for your skin, plus the difference between beef and pork tallow.
Farm-Grown & Wild-Foraged Botanicals
Prairie herbs with deep roots and deeper purpose.
Each season, we grow and gather native plants like yarrow, chickweed, plantain, goldenrod, and dandelion — chosen for their skin-restoring and soothing properties. Every infusion is done by hand in small batches, allowing each herb to release its full color, scent, and benefit into the oils we use.
Why it matters for your skin:
Prairie plants are resilient by nature. Their roots run deep, drawing up minerals that help calm inflammation, support healing, and bring balance to stressed skin. These infusions are what give our balms their golden hue — and their quiet strength.
Local Raw Beeswax
Natural protection, straight from the hive and the earth.
We use raw beeswax sourced from small Iowa apiaries — minimally filtered to keep its natural propolis content intact. Paired with unrefined shea and cocoa butters, it forms a breathable barrier that seals in moisture without clogging pores.
Why it matters for your skin:
Raw beeswax locks in hydration, supports natural healing, and lends a soft, honeyed scent. The light trace of propolis offers natural antimicrobial support, helping protect and comfort skin exposed to the elements.
Cold-Pressed Oils and Butters
Lightweight nourishment with deep integrity.
We choose cold-pressed, unrefined oils like jojoba, argan, sweet almond, and meadowfoam for their skin-compatibility and nutrient retention. Each oil is carefully balanced with our tallow and botanicals to create products that glide beautifully and absorb completely.
Why it matters for your skin:
Because these oils are unrefined, they retain their natural antioxidants, vitamins, and fatty acids — feeding the skin without heaviness. Together, they support hydration, barrier strength, and a radiant, healthy glow.

We want you to know exactly what you’re putting on your skin — and who made it.
Each ingredient is chosen with intention, each batch rendered or infused by hand, and each product poured by us right here on the farm.
This isn’t skincare that hides behind marketing words. It’s skincare that tells a story — one of land, lineage, and light.

Pasture-Raised Pork Tallow *
At the heart of every Meadowlark Made balm, salve, and butter is our signature ingredient: pasture-raised pork tallow, rendered with care from the animals we lovingly raise on our small family farm.
For generations, tallow has been prized for its deeply nourishing, skin-loving properties. It’s rich in bioavailable vitamins A, D, E, and K (nutrients our skin craves) and its structure closely mirrors our own natural oils, making it easy to absorb and incredibly soothing.
But here’s the part we love the most:
Pigs are exceptional at synthesizing and storing vitamin D from sunlight, and that sunshine gets locked into their fat. When pigs are raised outdoors on pasture, like ours, their tallow becomes an abundant source of vitamin D, a nutrient most modern skincare lacks (and over half of Americans are deficient on!)
It’s skincare that starts with sunlight, soil, and stewardship.
Tallow isn’t trendy. It’s timeless - and it works.
