Unlike many commercial cleansing bars and liquid facial cleansers that rely on synthetic detergents and surfactants, Ashwood is made using the traditional cold process method. During saponification, naturally occurring glycerin is created and remains in the finished bar, helping skin feel clean, comfortable, and balanced after every wash.
Crafted With Purpose
Pasture-Raised Pork Tallow: Our signature ingredient. Tallow has been used in traditional skincare for generations because its fatty acid profile closely resembles the oils naturally found in human skin. Our pasture-raised pork tallow creates a creamy, conditioning lather while helping support soft, comfortable skin after cleansing.
Activated Charcoal: Activated charcoal gives Ashwood its clarifying character. Known for its ability to attract and bind to impurities, charcoal is often used in skincare when skin feels congested or overwhelmed by excess oil, sunscreen, makeup, and environmental buildup.
Organic Jojoba Oil: Jojoba is one of our favorite facial oils because it closely resembles the skin's own sebum. It helps bring balance to the formula, making Ashwood feel cleansing without feeling harsh.
Organic Castor Oil: Castor oil contributes to the creamy, stable lather that makes our facial bars feel different from ordinary soap. It helps create a smooth cleansing experience while allowing the bar to glide easily across the skin.

Our facial bars are handcrafted using the cold process method, a traditional soapmaking process that allows the naturally occurring glycerin created during saponification to remain in the finished bar.
Many commercial cleansing bars and liquid washes rely on synthetic detergents and surfactants to create lather. Traditional soap begins with thoughtfully chosen fats, oils, and botanicals, creating a creamy lather and a simpler approach to cleansing.
We use pasture-raised pork tallow from our own farm as the foundation of every bar, carrying an ingredient traditionally valued in skincare into a modern apothecary formula.
